I teach math and yearbook at California School of the Arts - San Gabriel Valley. My students are incredibly unique and creative as they not only go to school for academics, but they also have arts conservatory classes after school. In my math classroom, my students are encouraged to be creative and persistent in their problem solving. They are also expected to be good communicators and collaborators. Same goes for my yearbook class. My yearbook students are the voice of the student body and the yearbook production is primarily student-led. Rather than being a tour guide that takes travelers through predetermined locations and routes, I want to provide my students with a map and travel with them as they each select the routes they want to take to get to the final location.
