My students are hard working and passionate about learning. We are part of a Title I school, and the majority of them come from low-income families.
Our school was greatly impacted by the hurricane this year and most of our kids suffered some extensive damage to their homes and were evacuated for weeks. Although the storm may have damaged property, it did not dampen our kids' spirit.
Upon returning to school, the students settled back into our educational routine and have achieved more Reading success than any other class I have taught before.
I am proposing a traveling book club that can give our students a fun reading activity. It will not only educate them, but will also entertain them. My students come from diverse home lives and not all of them have access to technology outside of the school day. There are so many fantastic audio books and we would really love the opportunity to explore them.
