Specifically, I want to use the geometric models to have them proof equations. Students tend to understand mathematical concepts better when they have the opportunity to explore and do something "hands on". When it comes to solving volumes, using models is really helpful because it allows students to see the difference and be able to reason why each equation is so different (pyramids, prisms, spheres). Net shapes are another challenge students have when solving for the surface area. Having models allows them to engage and visualize which will help them develop better retention.
The Algebra tiles are another great visual for explaining one- and two-step operations. The rest of the materials are classroom necessities that will help me be able to differentiate lessons (foldable, whiteboard activities, journaling, etc).
I look forward to the new students that will enter my classroom this fall and want to prepare them for learning on the first day of school. Please help me make this possible.
