Students will use the iPad minis with a protective case for inquiry-based learning during Daily 5 literacy stations. One of the stations in our classroom is called "Read to Someone or Research with Someone." In this station, children (in pairs) are researching and reading about topics we are learning in the classroom or topics of their choice for independent study. They will be reading books on iBooks, Storia, and Nook Books for information gathering. We will also utilize apps like Brain Pop Jr. and National Geographic for Kids to watch informative videos and activities.
Technology is such an integral aspect of our lives and our future that it is imperative that our current/future students be exposed to it, interact with it, and become proficient with it. Technology is one of the biggest keys to "student buy-in" in the classroom, and I want my children to crave learning in and out of the classroom. I want them to conquer our first-grade goals; however, I want us to create a love for technology and learning that transcends all grade levels in their future.
