Montessori classrooms have lots of hands-on activities for learning. We begin with the five senses (to see, to hear, to taste, to touch, and to smell) and then make connections from there. My project is focused on the reading process, beginning with objects to learn letter sounds. Although we have a reading program we use, called Estrellitas, we need more objects the children can see and touch to help make the first connection of beginning sounds.
The teaching tubs in the Spanish language will give the students a hands-on experience for sounds, and it will enhance their vocabulary as well. The book sets and pictures sets in Spanish will be used for individual reading practice for K4 and K5 students that are reading, and also to enhance vocabulary in Spanish. The floor puzzles connect to words and vocabulary that are already in the classroom, and will be an early work for K3 and K4 students, to help them find concentration and learn about farm animals, and later the solar system.
