Our school is currently on a "temporary" site. Our students went from being at home throughout the pandemic to returning to a school with what they described as "prison-like". The school's plain walls and lack of student attire are both factors that are decreasing our school pride. We have no single piece of school gear for our students and I know this will be a good start. The sweaters will be used by the members of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) to represent the school with pride (they will be customized to have our school's name and logo on them).
NJHS members will wear their sweaters with pride and help beautify our school's plain walls with some of their art. The markers will be used by students to create posters with art and quotes to put around the school to brighten it up. Students are really excited to start creating art for our school and hope to promote a positive culture at school through modeling school pride with their sweaters and adding some color to our walls. Redesigning our school's walls will help students meet Nevada's Visual Arts standard Cr2.6.3 since they are the ones deciding what changes need to be made to better our school community.
The hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, and face masks will be used to ensure all students are staying safe and protected while they work to uplift our school's culture. Safely building up our school pride will help promote a sense of belonging for all of our students and staff for years to come.
