Our school has been in the Houston district for over 50 years. Our school services a fast changing demographic of students. Although our student body of students have changed from predominantly all African Americans to Hispanic Americans, the economic status has remained the same. We are a low income school with very limited resources. Our library where I am the administrator is one of the smallest libraries in the district.
Although our school is economically low, we have maintained a status of hard work and determination. This is my first year at the school and I discovered that we have no computers or printers in the library. I am a librarian who teaches research and who teaches students to be independent library users. The students want to know just as much as the school fully funded so it has been my job to make sure they have a leveled playing field with other district studenrs.
