My class has completed several books, provided by the school, but we are running low on options. I am requesting the funding of three class sets of books: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, A Wrinkle in Time, and Wonder. In the future, I would love to request a class set of Harry Potter. Reading engaging books will encourage students to continue reading for fun past the fifth grade, which will help them to succeed throughout middle and high school. After winter break, my class has completed three read alouds. One of the books was "Shiloh." It was a tough book to get students engaged to in the beginning, but after Shiloh became part of Marty's family, Shiloh became part of their's. During a reading lesson, we were discussing how your perspective can change. One student raised their hand and said, "my perspective has changed about Shiloh. I love it!" That's the moment I knew that my students loved our read alouds.
