I teach at a small, diverse inner-city school in Chicago. Our school is incredibly special in that it focuses on developing the whole child through enrichment classes like art, music, dance, PE and Mandarin Chinese. Teachers and administrators strive to provide students with rich experiences that build their love of learning.
As the Pre-K teacher, I work with 40 3-5 year-olds in two half day programs. These young students come to us with a wide range of past experiences, as some are being read to for the first time when they enter our room and some are well on their way to becoming readers themselves. Each of them brings many talents and fun personality traits, and they have developed into a very caring and engaged classroom community.
