To target the different reading levels of my students, they are divided into small reading groups. During this time, each group comes to my table to read and learn together. We work on spelling patterns, reading fluency, vocabulary and comprehension in a 20-25 minute period. I have a kidney table and my biggest group consists of 6 students. With this amount of students, they are often bumping one another with our current classroom chairs which results in distracted, unfocused students; these round stools would definitely help with that. We also use whiteboards for word work and getting the whiteboards out and then putting them away results in more lost time.
I believe the more comfort and efficiency we have during reading groups, the more students can focus on learning how to read. If we had better seating to give each student space and white boards easily accessible, the more minutes of our time will go to reading.
