I teach Kindergarten to the most positive, energetic group of kids there are. We are in a low income area where most children qualify for free or reduced lunch, and English is a second language. Many children cannot get help with homework or be read to at home simply because of the language barrier. When questioning students about reading habits, I find that many children do not have books at home. Knowing this, I know it is my job to give them them the best quality education they can receive while they are in my hands. I surround them in a print rich environment, read fun and engaging stories, and share my passion for reading with my students. I take their enthusiastic attitude and get them excited to learn and read!
