My school is the community hub of a town without a McDonald's, Starbucks or even a stoplight. Like many schools, we are struggling to find new ways to bring in revenue. Our middle school has lost its arts, music, library and counseling services. Despite the challenges, I would describe my school as a second family. It is common to see more kids eating lunch in our rooms and talking about the day's events or debating Beiber vs. One Direction. The staff and students have a strong rapport. We've got some great kids that are hungry to learn.
