Students learn best when they have some control over their environment. Flexible seating provides students with the opportunity to control the location and position of their work space. It is no secret that students need opportunities to move. When children cannot move, they become distracted and disinterested in the task at hand.
Flexible seating provides a safe means for discreet twisting, turning, and wobbling. It also provides sensory input for students which is especially important for those who have ADD, ADHD, or ASD. Lastly, flexible seating promotes comfort while learning. Students who are comfortable are more willing to listen, focus, and complete work independently. My students need an assortment of flexible seating items for our classroom.
