I teach in one of the most impoverished areas in Kern County. The faculty and staff at our school strive daily to not only meet the students' basic needs, but provide them with unique opportunities for personal growth they wouldn't otherwise have access to: such as playing in band.
Many of the instruments we currently have in our inventory have been in our program for years. Although they have been well maintained over the years, several of them have fallen into a state of disrepair and need to be replaced. This has left us unable to put cover the needs of all of our band students.
Currently, about 80% of our band students require the use of a school instrument. With the program growing rapidly, we have outgrown our existing instrument supply. Check out my projects to see how you can bring music into the life of a student who so desperately needs it.
