Our students learn best when they have hands on experience. Currently we lack materials that will make implementing small group experiential learning projects possible.
I plan to create use the boomwhackers to create project stations where students can work in small groups to learn the lines and spaces of the treble staff by playing simple songs together. Drums are a fundamental in the elementary music classroom and presently we have none.
Working out melodies together at each station will give our students added experience working together cooperatively. This is vital to their social emotional growth and fostering a sense of community.
