I am excited to expand the music program at my school for students K-8. With the addition of violins, violas, cellos, and basses, students in grades 5-8 will experience creating music in a string ensemble before they head to high school. I will create 2 separate string orchestras for grades 5/6, and for grades 7/8. Students will have the opportunity to rehearse during their regular school day and have at least 3 concerts per year to perform. My younger students K-4 will develop music reading skills, ensemble etiquette, as well as performance opportunities using Orff instruments (xylophones, metallophones, glockenspiels, triangles, rhythm sticks, claves, woodblocks, and other non-pitched instruments).
