These materials will give my students the ability to practice teamwork, working in their lab groups. It will also give them first hand experience working with lab equipment. This equipment specifically the beakers to work with mixing different materials as well as building a knowledge of lab safety, will be used daily by over 90 students working to better understand the world around them. Having access to lab equipment like the ones provided in the student plastic labware kit will allow my students to practice skills like critical thinking, problem solving, and resilience while also providing them with the ability to make mistakes (drop beakers or petri dishes) without breaking them.
It will give my students insight into the world of science that previously they wouldn't have had the opportunity to experience. Science is overlooked at the school I am at and because of that students don’t have the opportunity to practice the valuable skills that science can teach like problem solving and developing ideas and predictions. These skills will be part of their life forever so with this equipment they can start mastering them now.
