The swimming pool is home to roughly 525 students from fourth through eighth grade which are all at various swim levels. To assist in determining each student's swim level, students wear certain cap colors so both the teacher and lifeguard know if each student is in the safest place for them in the water. The caps allow us to provide the safest learning environment for our students but for the students their cap color means more than that.
With cap colors determining skill levels, many students push themselves to become a silver cap or "expert" cap! The color system allows our students to reflect on their abilities as well as determining how far or close they are in achieving their goal. Our students understand the importance of setting goals as accomplishing them is a direct reflection of how much they have grown.
