My students live in an inner city setting with a low income family life. Many of them come from non English speaking parents who cannot assist them with extra practice skills at home. Their parents work day and night shifts so they do not have quality family time together. A TV is often their only entertainment.
Technology is absent in their lives except in school. If their parents have a phone they are use to playing on it and swiping as opposed to using a PC with a mouse. My classroom has 2 PC's with a mouse but they are often frustrated with coordinating the mouse since they are use to swiping with their fingers. I need tablets for the classroom to help them with mastering their academic skills in a more appealing way.
I would like to use 4 Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids Edition Tablets. This tablet would prove very beneficial in many ways to support their learning and use of technology.
