Imagine turning off the fluorescent overhead lights and turning on soft floor lamps. Imagine curling up with a soft blanket, a fluffy pillow, and a new book.
Having a comfortable, inviting place to read will create excitement around picking up a book. The Linenspa reading pillows and BLUTTEK throw pillows are for students to take to a corner of the room and lean back in while they read. The two Aooshine table lamps, the string of lights and the IKEA floor lamp will create soft and relaxing lighting for students to read under (rather than the fluorescent ceiling lights in the room). Students who need a little extra lighting can use the individual Mighty Bright book lights too! This will allow them to read anywhere in the room. I chose the Ultrasoft as an inviting space for introducing new books to students, for read-aloud circles, and for a soft spot for students to lay or sit while they are reading.
This space is so important for my students, as most of them are reading more than 2 years below grade level. For them, reading has become a task rather than something fun. Having this calm, quiet, and inviting reading environment will help to bring the joy back into reading for my kids. Please consider donating to these deserving children.
