Once our library is supplemented with quality non-fiction reading materials we will be able to grow in this literacy dependent world. Students will have the voice and choice to read diverse texts that support our Lucy Calkins reading program. Being exposed to numerous reading selections not only improves each student's ability to focus and concentrate, but also allows students to imagine while enjoying the world around them, and that engagement is critical to individual and social well-being. Having a library of information that you have picked up from non-fiction reading will come in handy in any future conversation. You will be able to share with others this new knowledge with a wider variety of people while feeling confident.
