The use of individual binders (basic skills binder and Symbols Communication Book) is a daily routine in my classroom, particularly during individual work time (TEACCH). Providing parents with individual binders for basic skills and communication at home will support structure and guidance on distance learning. These binders will keep students on track and help them get engaged in learning. The problem that I encountered last school year after school closure due to the pandemic was the fact that parents do not know where to start, what and how to teach. When things are out of control, my students with autism also tend to lose their control. Because these students cannot express what they see or feel, parents stumble into their child’s meltdown. If provided with binders, families and students will be able to avoid all of these problems and focus on following a daily homeschool routine.
The donations will help students get engaged into repetitive learning, improve communication at home and increase academic potential.
