Since I started teaching sixteen years ago, I've taught preschool, kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and for the last 10 years, I’ve taught third-grade English Language Arts. I am teaching Social Studies this year, and I am excited about that! 98% of the students at my school are from high-risk, low-income families, where the average income is $20,741. I want my students to know that locality has no bearing on the kind of education they receive. However, we are not given enough money to supply our students with everything, and I often find myself paying out of pocket for various expenses. Thank goodness for Donor’s Choose and those who donate to classrooms like mine.
