My students are fantastic kids! They live in a primarily low income area and many are learning English as a second language. Our school has over 700 students and has been deemed a "Needs to Improve" school because of test scores. Unfortunately our school has almost no money for school supplies. All I have to sharpen pencils, is an old school sharpener.
A method to improve students' scores is to have teachers team together to teach STEM and Humanities' programs.
I will teach one class of students Humanities in the morning, while my partner teaches the other class STEM. After lunch we will switch students and teach the same material to the 2nd class. This will allow us to combine Social Studies into Language Arts and to combine Science and Math. The hope is that we will be able to focus on creating better lessons by teaming together.
