I teach 10th grade students at Obion County Central High School in northwest Tennessee. Our average enrollment as a county school is 850 students. Witty, energetic, creative, and intelligent describe the students of OCCHS. Our school mascot is the Rebelman. These students are indeed Rebels, not against laws or rules, but about accepting the status quo. These students look for ways to see and improve the world by simply speaking to each other or giving a much needed smile. They believe that no act of kindness is too small and strive to demonstrate that kindness in all they do whether it be soccer, foreign language, music, or art.
Within this group of students going to Boston, there is a future: video game designer, culinary specialist, early childhood advocate, guitarist, pragmatic book editor, nature photographer, and CEO. These students are diverse in talent, and I'm incredibly blessed to be their teacher.
