Most children love math. PreAlgebra and Algebra moves from the concrete math they love to the more challenging abstract math. I want my students to be able to learn the difficult concepts of Algebra without the stress of having to calculate large numbers manually. The TI-84 calculators will provide my students with a tool that will assist them not only in middle school, but all the way through college!
This classroom set will give each of my students access to tools that will help them compete and, perhaps, close the achievement gap we hear so much about. Since the majority of my students come from low-income families, they do not have the luxury of owning their own graphing calculators. Having working tools that are always ready for the job is essential for success. My students are capable of many things, they just need the tools to do it.
