There are so many benefits to having every child have a copy of our read-aloud in their hands. For one, even though my students enjoy reading, many of them feel intimidated by chapter books. Reading a chapter book together as a group will help make chapter books feel more accessible to all students. I will use the story along with the standards as a guide for lessons in vocabulary, grammar, writing, and reading skills. Not to mention that there are so many opportunities to incorporate Science with a book like this! I have many students in my class who are interested in robotics, technology, coding, and engineering. I plan to combine S.T.E.A.M activities along with our read-aloud to give my students an immersive literature experience. I know they will love it!
