I teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade band in a middle school located in a very low income and high need area. 85% of the school receives free or reduced lunch so reeds for instruments (many that are school owned)seems like a frivolous purchase for most parents. Many of my students do not excel in the regular classroom but are very talented instrumental students.
