At my urban high school, my freshman and sophomore English teachers promote SSR (Silent Sustained Reading) in their classrooms.
This means that I have over 850 students who rely heavily on the school library to provide them reading material for this part of their classroom curriculum.
Junior and senior students rely on the library for materials that will help them complete their Author Study thesis analyzing classic and contemporary titles from both American and World Literature.
Being able to support a student's book requests and reading life is part of our library's mission.
