These materials will help my students in their guided reading groups. Students will use the pocket chart to display: vocabulary, pictures, syllables, sentences, and poetry. Book boxes will contain their leveled readers and books of their choice so they always have something ready to read. The magnetic letters and mini whiteboards will help students during phonetic instruction and high frequency word practice in small groups.
Dual-language students require hands-on activities with the content they are learning. All of these materials allow students direct access to the text they are learning to read. They will be able to manipulate sounds and practice sentence formation. The pocket chart will allow picture cards to accompany the text so that every language learner in my class can follow along. These supplies will help my students experience success and gain ownership of their reading while they acquire a second language.
