I teach first grade in an large urban school setting where materials are limited. I take every opportunity to differentiate my instruction by working with small groups. While I work with small groups, the rest of my students are involved in high-quality reading activities. At this time I only have 1 CD player which allows very few children to engage in "Listening to Reading" or allows them to chose their own story to listen to.
