Playing instruments is always a crucial part of our musical journey. My students not only use these instruments to make melodies, but they are also used to build community and literacy connections. Unfortunately, we only have enough xylophones for about 1/3 of a class. If we add these xylophones, then will increase student involvement.
When playing these xylophones, my students are encouraged to communicate with their peers on a deeper level. It requires non-verbal communication when they are encouraged to listen and play with the entire group. It also boosts self-awareness and self-esteem when they realize that they’re a part of something larger.
These instruments connect literature to music. When my students create their own musical pieces, they use text to create and play rhythm chains. They’re reading and writing in a new way!
We are so thankful that you are considering our project! Thank you so much for helping my students succeed!
