I bet you can remember the first day of school. The new clothes, backpacks, sharp pencils and crayons, markers that were bold and bright, desks full of brand new paper, folders and erasers. I want this for my students. As a first year teacher, fresh out of college and low on funds, this is a challenge in itself.
My dream is for my students to experience all of the feelings mentioned above and more. I want them to be able to achieve and soar above expectations. To do this, we need a little help building our supplies!
My students are in first grade and are a mix of special education students and general education students. The district serves over ninety percent of free and reduced lunches. The population surrounding my school is considered lower economic status, although our school achieves excellence.
I have big goals for our class over the next year. I want my students to not only achieve but excel past all expectations laid out in front of them.
