I teach English as a Second language in a low income school just outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I have 90 wonderful students that I work with. My students come from a wide range of countries, but a majority of my students' first language is Spanish. My students love to read and discover words that are similar to their native language. I want to give them that opportunity.
My school is a wonderful school located outside of Philadelphia. Over 60% of our students are on free or reduced-price lunches. We do not have the resources in order to help my students reach their full potential. We have a school full of teachers and staff that work very hard to give our children the best opportunity. Our building is physically the smallest in the district, but we have the biggest hearts. Our school is also one of the oldest schools in our district. Most of our parents grew up in our school.
