My students need a variety of high interest chapter books to help develop their reading skills, while addressing state standards, during reading group instruction and with reading partners. These books have been selected to provide the students with access to book sets that are grade level appropriate and will be within the students' individual reading range or slightly above. I want to engage the students during reading groups by using books that will hold their interest and that are part of a series, so they can continue on with these characters during their own independent reading journey.
This project will not only help provide my students with great books to develop their reading skills, but also will help develop a love of reading in life. I believe that updating our reading group library will build interest and enjoyment towards reading. Through the development of both skills and fluency in reading, the students will be set up for greater levels of success in years to come.
