Aloha! My name is Jamie, or as my students call me, "Kumu Waianuhea". Three years ago, due to teacher shortages, my eldest child's classroom was to commence the school year with no prospects of a teacher.
Extremely concerned, I decided to venture out of the comforts of my home and enter the world of public school education as a Second Grade Teacher. While I had never intended on teaching, I somehow feel Ive found my niche.
It has been one of the most rewarding choices I made since having my five children with my husband of 10 years.
Each year I try to make my classroom an extension of my home where children not only feel safe but are inspired to love learning and live life with kuleana, responsibility.
