This year I fulfilled a lifelong dream and became a reading teacher. It has been everything I hoped it would be, and a few things I never imagined in a million years. I work in a wonderful school full of hard working educators who show up every day and fight to help kids reach their potential. We have lots of heart and lots of imagination, but very little money. The differences I see between my Title 1 school and the school where my own children go are drastic and obvious and sad. I want to help bridge the gap in resources between my daughers' school (where parents have and give lots of money) and the school where I work, where the parents struggle for everything they have and have nothing left over to give.
