My students attend a Title I school. That means most students come from low-income families. Majority of my students will not come to second grade reading on grade level. With the lack of home support, in certain situations, a teacher's role becomes more. In my classroom we are a "family". I take the time every morning to focus on my students emotional needs. Through this we learn respect for each other. This ensures a smooth day for their learning success. Knowing the impact I have on my students makes my days worth it. Being part of a students " safe zone" is gratifying.
