These books and resources will encourage emerging readers and language learners to develop a love of language and to continue to develop their vocabulary and literacy skills. The resources I have requested will encourage vocabulary growth and critical thinking skills both in print and through the use of technology. My students have access to ipads through the school, but there is a constant struggle to keep them charged because we do not have enough ports to support them all and many of our chargers are no longer working after several years of use. This project will ensure that the technology that we do have is up and running!
This project will also provide students with the opportunity to better engage with and discuss the literature taught in English I. Authors such as Poe and Shakespeare are brought to life through graphics and made more accessible in the target language.
The scholastic magazines provided engaging real world material for students to work including news worthy topics and issues that affect teenagers. Everyday English will help me to complete a curriculum for my learners no matter what level they are currently at.
