I teach at a PreK-5 public school that is highly impacted. This means a high percentage of our students experience social-emotional, physical, and educational challenges due to factors of poverty. To combat the social inequities, I pride myself on a platform of digital equity and interactive teaching. My passionate, educated awareness and implementation of technology in the classroom actively works to bridge the digital divide for our students in a way that is naturally motivating.
But, access is just the beginning. Students must engage in learning opportunities facilitated through cutting-edge digital tools in order to apply and extend their learning in creative, critical, relevant, and solution-based ways. And, they must be engaged and intrinsically motivated in the classroom learning environment through active participation and various avenues of engagement.
