I teach grades 9, 10, 11, and 12. Some high school students have access to e- readers but most do not. We live in a small, rural community, so the public library is 20+ miles away. Access is an issue for many students. Money in the family budget may also be a concern. 40% of high school families qualify for free/reduced lunch. The majority of my students will go on to post- secondary schooling. Their reading skills must be strong. Also, I want to help create lifelong readers. My students have a wide variety of interests, so I would like to provide a large variety of choices for them to read.
