Students will be learning about natural hazards and their local and global impact. Students will engage in the engineering design process to develop a prototype for an earthquake-safe building.
Students will test their prototype made out of sticks in a simulated earthquake and have an opportunity to refine their design and re-test it. In order to complete this task successfully the funding of this project will provide a sturdy earthquake simulator board that can be re-used.
This hands-on experience is not only engaging but will increase their retention as well as cater to their individual learning styles. All students will be able to access the project in a meaningful way.
