I teach approximately 62 secondary students (grades 6-12) in a Setting IV EBD program at an entirely special education school. 100% of our students receive free lunch, making our schools one of the most high poverty schools in the district. The majority of my students have experienced traumas, poverty, and numerous other hardships that make their lives difficult and as a result greatly affect their behavior. My students all have the ability to succeed in their own ways- but we lack the resources to "think outside the box" like my students need! They are so deserving and appreciative of anything. Although they may not have been dealt the best deck of cards in life, I strive every day to empower them to succeed through education.
