We are trying to increase the hands-on aspect of science at our school. This project would help in both our brand new anatomy class and our biology class.
We plan on using the 3D printer to print off life-size models of bones and then use those to create molds. Using plaster of paris or other materials we will make reproductions enough for class sets.
Models purchased from science supply companies are very expensive but this would allow us to make in-house models for students to study human and animal anatomy. Rather than depend on one for a class demo, each table would be able to work with a model and experience the lesson hands-on.
With the use of other materials, we would eventually be able to expand this project to other models like organs or whole animals.
