What a WONDER-ful way to start the incoming school year, September 2017, with a book club, that will set the tone for the school year. Touching on themes such as family, friendships, bullying, acceptance, leadership, and understanding the meaning of what it means to be "different". It is my hopes that my students will learn compassion and empathy in conjunction with learning to accept differences and always choose KIND and not be too quick to judge others based on appearances as they travel through the life of Auggie. To take what they learn through the book club and apply it to their own life as they will be faced with many challenges throughout their lives. Donations to my project will help improve my 5th graders discussions on how to treat one another, improve their literacy skilks, and to become life long readers.
