In our Title I school, my students come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures ranging from Haiti, Dominica, Uzbekistan, Czech Republic, and Hungary. With such a large growing number of English Language Learners, scientific vocabulary becomes a much patient practice that requires tons of hands-on demonstrations, games, and act-it-outs.
My young scientists are fascinated with the world around them.
Many of my students are curious about the natural world and all that science has to offer. I never have to worry about getting students to think of their own questions that have in their learning, as many of them want to push the learning beyond what state standards require.
All of my students this year are motivated learners, something I am blessed to experience. Their willingness and motivation to learn everyday pushes me to create fun and unique learning opportunities that they don't always get in school.
