When you enter my classroom you will be surrounded by popcorn, love, songs, and learning. My teaching philosophy is about making school a fun place where student's want to go. Sone students enter my classroom with attendance issues, but once they begin my class, their attendance improves. They say it is a place they want to come! My love for teaching students to read, comes from my struggle learning to read. I am dyslexic and that made reading, math, spelling, and penmanship difficult for me when I was in school. I want to do my best to arm these students with a vast amount of tools to help them for the rest of their lives. Anything I can turn into a song, I will. Songs are a great tool to help students learn. I also work hard to teach students explicit phonics so they not only know how to read the words I have taught them, but they also have word attack skill they can use forever. Our class is a family!
