Students at this age are very active and 'touchy'. They like to have movement to help them to stay focused as well as to help with any feeling of anxiousness. When students are uncomfortable and unable to move for a certain amount of time then they can become a distraction to others and a distraction to themselves which then can hinder their learning process.
My students will benefit with these options for flexible seating because those who need the movement and are more active can have an outlet to allow them to keep moving while learning and then their movements at the desks will not be a distraction to others!
The balance balls will help active students to use their energy in a positive way while still learning! The wobble stools and rockers will allow students to be able to move and wiggle safely while they work! The stability disks will help those students who like to stand or move back and forth while they learn and work! And for those students who still like a traditional chair but need a little activity can have a kick-band on the legs of their chair to bounce their feet on quietly! I truly believe that these flexible seating options in a classroom will give these students one of the best learning environments to only better their focus, knowledge, and work!
