The first year of middle school is always fraught with change. Whether students are joining a new community, leaving behind seemingly childish interests, or maximizing relationships to promote themselves socially- this is a time of tremendous opportunity for self-examination and understanding of one another. Sixth-graders bring forth a fresh eagerness to learn and be present. I believe in providing students access to choices in how they complete their work and choices in the books and stories they read. My students are outstanding!
