All students want to learn and play. By providing materials like Magna Tiles and LEGOs to students, they will get the opportunity to share, build, create, and play all while learning. My class will use these materials as a way to build fine-motor skills, while also creating a community of friendship and sharing. These bins will be more than just a time to play, they will also be a time to unite and learn how to work together. I have noticed that our students need this time in school to help build friendships and practice using their manners with each other. These materials will give my students the chance to learn and play. Students will feel like they are given the opportunity to just play, however they will also be learning. Using Magna Tiles will help students recognize geometric shapes. Alphabet stamps can teach students letter names, sounds, vowels, consonants, and how to make words. All of the materials will strengthen students hand muscles to build their fine-motor skills as well. I have seen how the little materials that I have already been using with my students has been building my students skills in math, literacy and character, so I am confident that adding more materials will only increase their gains in all areas.
